The End of a (short) Era

The Bushwick Social Club Staff

It is with great sadness that we announce that we will be shutting down the Bushwick Social Club.  In the short year that we lived in Bushwick we were lucky enough to watch it transform into what is becoming an increasingly vibrant neighborhood.

We started the Bushwick Social Club as a way to help stimulate culture and activity our here in our neck of the woods.  Now, only a few months later, we are closing our doors.

Life has a lot of ins-and-outs and what-have-you’s.  Due to some of these unforeseen circumstances, we are moving out of Bushwick.  Believe me, we are very sad to leave and we have enjoyed our time here.

I hope you have enjoyed reading our little blog.  We enjoyed writing it.

I leave you now with a happy little song:  The 9th Wonder remix of the Roy Ayers classic “Everybody Loves the Sunshine,” from the Verve Remixed 4 album.  Enjoy the summer Bushwick, we’ll be back to check in.

Willie Randolph Is Unquestionably Related to DJ Roc Raida

The other day we posted about our dismay in the Mets letting Willie Randolph go.  Yesterday, we went to a park jam in the Queens Bridge Park where DJ Roc Raida did his thing on the tables.  He happened to be wearing a Mets hat and the more I looked at him, the more I began to come to the belief that he must be directly related to Willie Randolph!! Look at these two!  I even asked him about it, though he denied it.  I’m on to you Willie Randolph and Roc Raida.

Pacific Division Bic Mac Chant

Pacific Division - Big Mac Chant

Being that Pac Div is a West Coast group, we were slower to pick up on the buzz they were creating out in la la land, but eventually, we’d caught wind. And from all of my initial impressions, I liked what I saw… until now. McDonald’s is doing this thing called the Big Mac chant to commemorate the Big Mac’s 20 years of existence. So they are asking for artists to submit videos of their own version of the Big Mac song. Pac Div stepped to the plate as part of the early crowd of artists. They might’ve even got paid or this was a free promo type deal for them.  Anyway, you can peep the Pac Div Big Mac Chant ’sesh’ above complete with McDonald’s meals scattered around the studio.

Say It Ain’t So, Willie

Little late on this but getting ready for a move has slowed things down a bit.  Willie Randolph was the only good thing about the Mets… in my humble opinion.  And getting rid of him ain’t gonna fix things.
